What is uss chinook?

USS Chinook (PC-9) is a US Navy Cyclone-class coastal patrol ship. It was commissioned on September 12, 1992. Its primary mission is to conduct maritime security operations in littoral areas and provide protection for naval assets and shipping in coastal waters. It is named after the Chinook American Indian tribe in the Pacific Northwest. The ship has a length of 179 feet, a beam of 25 feet, and a draft of 7.5 feet. Its speed is up to 35 knots and it is armed with two Mk 38 25mm machine guns and two M2HB .50 caliber machine guns. The crew size is typically 28 personnel, including officers and enlisted. USS Chinook is currently homeported in Bahrain and operates primarily in the Persian Gulf and Arabian Sea.
